Presenting The Offshore Jacket

Two iconic British brands fuse their expertise to produce a highly technical, yet beautifully crafted jacket for Autumn

The Offshore Jacket embodies the meeting of two iconic British brands, from two very different backgrounds, coming together to present a masterpiece of functionality, design and durability. Gill Marine has a proud heritage of product innovation and customer satisfaction originating back from inception in 1975 and on a visit to the Private White factory in Manchester, the teams realised shared roots and passion in British manufacturing.

Bound by water Gill Marine’s technical clothing is used in some of the worst conditions the elements can throw at you, often making the difference between failure and success. Garments are built to be durable, resilient and deliver guaranteed performance. Private White inhabit a very different world; of Great British luxury clothing made to last, with a focus on using the finest regionally sourced material and honouring tradition.

The Offshore Jacket is a blend of both brands, inspired by Gill Marine’s best-selling sailing OS2 and merging technical detailing with premium outerwear. Key design features such as the 6-pocket design, pocket shaping, cuff adjusters and protective storm guard can all be seen in this re-working of an iconic style. Fabric selection shows a similar mixing of Private White’s tradition with Gill Marine’s expertise in performance.

The use of Ventile®, a densely woven cotton fabric first developed for WW2 pilots, combined with a technical thermal mesh taken from Gill’s own marine collection helps to deliver the best of both worlds.

Commenting on the collaboration with Private White V.C., Matt Clark, Product Development Director at Gill, said:

This isn’t simply a Gill designed jacket manufactured by Private White V.C., nor is it a Private White jacket with the Gill logo applied to it. There is a creation and blending of both brands, through mutual respect for the detailed process of garment design, fabric selection and quality assurance. The end product is a true collaboration.

Quality and innovation is at the heart of both brands rich heritage, reflected here in The Offshore Jacket. This tried and tested silhouette has been elevated following a rigorous design process and careful deliberation with Gill Marine who champion a shared passion for British manufacturing, product innovation and uncompromising quality. The result is one of our most technical and stylish garments ever.
