The Doeskin Frobisher
Description
Engineered to endure the most extreme winter temperatures, the Doeskin Frobisher is 100% waterproof and virtually indestructible. The design was inspired by the exploits of 16th century Yorkshire explorer, Sir Martin Frobisher, who combated the fiercest conditions in his attempts to discover new trade routes through the Northwest Passage.
- Handcrafted using the finest UK woven doeskin wool. Doeskin is a medium-weight wool fabric with a short nap and tight weave. It is softer than the more commonly used melton but it is still very hardwearing due to its compact weave and construction
- The sleeves and body benefit from one and two layers respectively of 100% Merino Wool wadding. (Wool is a thermal regulating fibre meaning that it is superior to goose feathers / ‘down’ as it can cool down or indeed warm up depending on the surrounding temperature).
- 100% waterproof thanks to an impervious drop liner membrane that sits between the outer cloth and 100% wool wadding filler.
- High rise wrap-around 100% merino shearling collar for warmth and comfort (N.B. collars may differ slightly from the images as no two shearling skins are the same)
- Detachable hood, complete with drawstring copper adjusters and fully lined in 100% merino
- Two-way centre-front military-grade copper zip fastening (i.e. very convenient when getting on and into cars, bikes etc.)
- Button through placket under which lies a RIRI zip secure map pocket (allows you to access stored items without unfastening the main zip)
- Two external angled hand-warmer pockets lined with 100% cashmere
- Two external patch pockets with bellows and flap with button fastening
- Two large internal smartphone friendly patch pockets with stud secure fastening
- Doeskin stud bearer with hold-tab to assist easy fastening
- Adjustable drawstring waist with copper adjusters
- Internal self-fabric drip strip along the hem (to stop any snow or moisture rising up and on to the lining)
- Knitted storm cuffs to keep out the wind and cold
- Military grade copper hardware from RIRI of Switzerland
- Real horn British-made combat buttons
- Model wears size 4/M
- Handmade in our factory in Manchester, England

Lifetime repair service
Every single component of a Private White V.C. garment has been subject to stringent performance testing from internationally accredited independent laboratories (we use BBTG as it is less than 5 miles from the factory) to minimise the chances of any latent defects, material faults or underperformance. The following are just a few of the routine tests that we undertake: Tensile strength seam slippage tear strength water repellency colour fastness.
On occasions there may be instances whereby a garment doesn’t quite perform as expected and there may be issues with delicate yarns, natural horn buttons or hand-made button holes. As and when such anomalies arise we will stand by our products. More information here.
