THE STORY OF TOOLS

THE STORY OF TOOLS

THE BEST TOOLS LAST A LIFETIME – OR EVEN SEVERAL...

The Story of Tools is Hole & Corner’s first foray into book publishing and will be released this May.

After recording the endeavours of some of the world’s most inspiring, committed and accomplished crafts people Hole & Corner was compelled to record the unsung heroes of each one of these stories, the humble tool; the great facilitator of human inspiration and a product of human ingenuity.

The Story of Tools is a celebration of those items that define our human experience and seeks to explore our relationship with these most fundamental of objects which have allowed us to realise our potential as makers, problem solvers and doers.

Each chapter explores a specific, unique tool through the experience of the craftsman or woman that uses it, providing an insight into creative processes of some our most revered makers. From the hand forged Axe of Alex Pole to Lola Lely’s Tool With No Name, eachof the implements featured in the book are often in daily use, and an intrinsic part of the making process.

A passionate and unashamed ode to craftsmanship The Story of Tools celebrates craft culture and the skill it takes to master the tools documented therein. The book will appeal to anyone with a passion for making, design and human ingenuity and to quote the author, Mark Hooper, ‘We hope you find a little bit of alchemy yourself in this book – the glimmer of inspiration that comes from a simple tool, used to its best potential.’

The Story of Tools will be available to buy for £20 from 2nd May 2019, please click here to order now.
