Our Ventile Despatch Motor Trench Coat with Cashmere Liner has been created in collaboration with Simon Crompton of Permanent Style.
The ultimate trench coat for all year round, this double-breasted trench coat features a traditional oversized wing collar and lapels. The collar boasts van dyke and multi-stitching together with an adjustable throat tab that can be concealed when not worn. The inset raglan sleeve provides a crisp smart appearance to the front and enhanced ease of movement at the back. The traditional gun flaps and back saddle are for additional protection from the elements.
Detailing includes a despatch rider's document pocket, an "unlosable" belt attached to the side seam boasts original 101 Reece eyelets and two military inspired D-rings. There are two external cargo pockets with oversized flaps, stud adjustable cuffs and stud adjustable vents.
The garment can be fastened by British-made combat buttons and also by a non-intrusive half belt, which can be hidden away in a discreet jet pocket on the facing. The leather buckle can be held in place when not in use by an internal branded stud which proudly proclaims that this garment has been "Made in Manchester". It is beautifully finished with taped seams that ensure this a 100% waterproof British-made masterpiece.

A luxurious, fine and super soft yarn, cashmere comes from the Cashmere Goat, with rigorous standards in its classification. Despite its finer handle than that of standard sheep wool, Cashmere is up to three times more insulating, rendering it incomparably superior. Our Cashmere range spans exquisite 100% cashmere products, to cashmere and cotton blends ideal for a luxurious, fine gauge garment.

Copper coloured seam sealing
We pride ourselves on creating practical garments, many of which are waterproof; however, once a needle has passed through fabric (for example, to join pattern pieces at the seams) it cannot be fully waterproof. For this reason, in many of our garments; particularly those that are crafted from Ventile®; we seal all the seams with our signature copper coloured tape. This closes any stitch holes and ensures a fully sealed, water and wind proof garment that will keep you warm and dry.
Double Faced Cashmere
Exclusive to Private White V.C., our luxurious double-faced Cashmere and Lambswool blend offers an exceptionally soft handle and unrivalled comfort and warmth. In beautiful charcoal or navy colourways, the reverse of the cloth showcases our exclusively designed regimental blanket stripe, a commemorative WWI design, touching on the roots and history of our company and celebrating our namesake Private Jack White V.C.
Originally developed during WWI in our very own city of Manchester, Ventile® is a densely woven cotton celebrated for its exceptional weather and showerproofing properties. Crafted from a yarn that swells when wet, the fabric was initially researched at the Shirley Institute, commissioned by Winston Churchill in a bid to create a woven fabric with waterproofing technologies. Today, Ventile® is a household name, used to create classic outwear silhouettes with durable, innovative properties.
At Private White V.C. we recognise the importance of quality, from the people we employ to the garments we create. That’s why we are proud to say we use only the best quality, finest raw materials available to us.
